Abstract

After a presentation of the status quaestionis on the origins of the monastic rite of Communion of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, the article studies its subsequent non-Eucharistic adaptation in the Byzantine Rite and the etymology of the term Τυπικά with which it is designated. The study continues with an examination of the hymnography interspersed between the verses of the Beatitudes (Mt 5:3-12), proposing to identify its origin in the office of Matins. Finally, the possible reasons that led to the replacement of the three initial antiphons of the Divine Liturgy with the Τυπικά are investigated, first on weekdays and then also on Sundays and feast days.
