A Coptic Liturgical Text relating to Saint Leontius
Abstract
Leontius is a martyr from the fourth century. His veneration contributes to the conversion of Severus of Antioch. It seems that he introduced his cult in Egypt during his exile from 518-538 AD. Since the sixth century, many churches were named after him. By the time, the veneration was not observed and hence no liturgical texts relating to saint Leontius survived except a commemoration for the consecration of his Church.
